Oh Christmas trees!

Laura Gardner is a big fan of decking her halls … and her kitchen, her bedroom, her living room, her sons’ rooms … even her laundry room.

Gardner and her family, which includes husband Brad and sons Carter, 13, and Carson, 15, go all out for the holiday, decorating their Palmerton home from top to bottom, including their 11 Christmas trees. There’s even an all-white tree on the front porch to greet visitors, outfitted to look like a snowman, complete with a top hat.

“I’m just a Christmas nut,” said Gardner, who owns so many pairs of Christmas socks, she recently passed 41 days without having to repeat one pair, and she still has several pairs to go.

“I just love Christmas. It’s a time of year when people are happier.”

Before the Gardners moved into their current home five years ago, they lived in town, and only had room for one tree. With the move to a bigger house, she upgraded to two trees — her main Christmas tree and one that held all of the ornaments the boys have received over the years.

“I added more trees over the years, but I think I’m out of space. I don’t want it to look too cluttered.”

Jillian and Colby Getz have six trees in their Palmerton area home, including one in the master bedroom covered with red and gold balls and country-themed ornaments, and one in each of their children’s rooms.

Daughter Julianna, who is 2½, has pink and purple ornaments on her tree, as well as special gift ornaments, such as Barbie, My Little Pony and Precious Moments.

Son Colby, 4½, has a tree in his room with blue and green ornaments, as well as Chase from Paw Patrol, Lightning McQueen from Cars and a few monster trucks.

A tree in the playroom sports a John Deere tree skirt and red, green and white ornaments.

“We’ve always done multiple trees,” said Jillian Getz. “Every room we can fit one, we pretty much fit one.”

It takes three days to decorate all of her trees, and about a week to get all of her decorations up.

The kids will usually do their own trees and the playroom tree, but everyone helps with the big tree in the family room, which is the only live tree in the house.

“We’ve just always enjoyed doing it,” said Getz. “It’s fun for the kids, and Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for.”

We reached out to our readers on social media, asking who put up more than one tree. Turns out there are a lot of you! We also had plenty of readers tagging others who they knew put up multiple trees, including many for the two families featured in our story.

Here’s a sampling of reader comments.

Jess Moyer: “We have two. One inside and one on the porch. We bought an artificial one for the first time ever but wanted to keep the tradition of Walkers Tree Farm going, so now we buy a small real one and put it on the porch or in my son’s room.”

Judi Gross: “Too late ... I haven’t put up more than one in a few years. I used to put one in the living room and one in the family room downstairs. Now I have a 4-foot tree on a table. Downsizing!”

Joy Hollenbach: Growing up. We used to have one for the kids and I would make one for the dog and cat from the branches we cut off of the tree to fit it in the bucket.”

Heather Rogers: “We have our inside tree and our porch tree that gets full decorations. My daughters also get mini real trees for their rooms.”

Donna Hollywood: “I have six outside. Didn’t even start my inside yet!!!!”

Shane Becker:

“Well I put one up in my house and one in my classroom. Does that count?”

Lori Zonca: “I have one in the living room and my son has one in his bedroom.”

PinKie McLean: “We have one in each room pretty much.”

Desiree Palazzo Kelly: “We put up multiple trees depending on the theme or the look we’re going for.”

Tony Luchini: “One real one for me and one artificial.”

Annie-Tyrone Green: “We put up a real one in the living room and the kids get a fake one in their rooms.”

Lada Gnilrae: “I have one traditional and a small food-themed tree.”

John Malmos: “I have a small one in one window and our 7½-foot tree in the TV room.”

Jonathan Mel: “Nine. Ten if you count the one I have up in my office at work.”

John W. Hauck: “My mom used to put up two-three.”

Eva Kumor Zakrzewski: “I like to put up about six to eight.”

Tracy Boltz Ruch: “I have three up currently!”

Julie Kennedy: “I have nine up.”

Annie-Tyrone Green: “We put up a real one in the living room and the kids get a fake one in their rooms.”

Jenny Kline Nonweiler: “Well, I do still have five. But I downsized a lot since we moved.”
