Two are arrested for burglaries in Lake Naomi development
Pocono Mountain Regional Police arrested two people in connection with burglaries that happened earlier this month in the Lake Naomi development in Tobyhanna Township.
Jonathan Mallison, 36, of Albrightsville, and Lauren Worozilcak, 32, of Pocono Pines, are facing charges of burglary, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, people not to possess firearms, possession of instruments of crime, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal use of communications facility. All of the charges are felonies.
Police said they received a burglary complaint on Dec. 11 at a home on Split Rock Lane in the township, where the property owner reported a large number of items were stolen, including three off-road motorcycles, an ATV, bedding, electronics and small appliances.
On the same day, police said they were summoned to another home on Split Rock Lane for a suspicious person report, and, upon arrival, learned Lake Naomi security personnel had secured the outside of the residence.
Police said Mallison exited the residence via a rear door and was apprehended and charged with burglary for having made a forced entry to the home.
Police said they were told Mallison was seen walking from the residence earlier in the day with a female acquaintance, as both were observed carrying bags from the home and entering onto another property on Split Rock Lane.
When police went to that home, they encountered Worozilcak. Through execution of a search warrant, police said they discovered property and other evidence from the burglaries, arresting the woman on all of the above charges.
They also discovered items included electronics, small appliances, a burglary bag, Christmas gift cards, marijuana and various drug paraphernalia, police said.
Police said they then responded to the Mallison residence on Stony Mountain Road, Albrightsville, where they located two of the stolen motorcycles, the ATV and various items from the other residence on Split Rock Lane.
The owner of that property was summoned and identified other stolen items, including electronics, small appliances, snow shoes, a large-screen television, laundry basket, a garbage can and Christmas decorations.
Police said Mallison works for a winterization and residential cleanup company and may have used this to identify and burglarize residences.
Police said the probe is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
Police said the large amounts of items recovered may indicate they were stolen from unknown and/or unidentified burglaries throughout several counties and are asking potential victims to contact them at 570-895-2400.
