When it comes to cookies, America’s self-control goes out the window.

Today is National Cookie Day.

Researchers at NationalToday.com conducted a survey and asked 1,000 Americans about everyone’s favorite sweet treat.

This is what they discovered.

• 70 percent of Americans eat cookies once a week or more.

• 1 in 3 Americans have eaten a whole box of cookies in a sitting, while another 43 percent have eaten an entire row of Oreos in one go.

• 33 percent of Americans prefer raw cookie dough, while 21 percent said they’ve intended to bake cookies but ended up eating all the dough instead.

• Twice as many Americans prefer chewy cookies, while only 36 percent prefer crunchy. Fifty-four percent say homemade cookies are the best.

And what are America’s top five favorite cookies?

1. Oreo (35 percent)

2. Chips Ahoy (21 percent)

3. Girl Scout (17 percent)

4. Pepperidge Farms (9 percent)

5. Keeblers (8 percent)
