Tamaqua police report on citations issued

Tamaqua police released information on several citations recently issued by members of the department.

Joseph Kissinger

, 21, of the 300 block of Washington Street, Tamaqua, was picked up on Oct. 31 on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation.

Tamara Price

, 30, of Second Street, Coaldale, was cited for retail theft and driving with a suspended license after officers were called to the Dollar General Store on Nov. 21. Price tried to leave the store without paying for $15.90 worth of socks and slippers but was stopped by store employees. She fled the scene in a black Mazda, which was stopped by Coaldale police minutes later.

Antonio Rodrigues- Ortiz, 46, and Anna Vidal

, 33, both of Philadelphia, were stopped for a traffic violation on Nov. 22. Both initially provided false names to the officer. Rodriguez-Ortiz was wanted by the U.S. Marshals offices in Philadelphia and Allentown, while Vidal was wanted on a warrant issued by Lehigh County officials.

Both were transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.

They also face charges of providing false information. Rodriguez-Ortiz was also charged with driving with a suspended license and an expired registration.

Melissa A. Shartel

, 52, of the 200 block of Market Street Tamaqua, was charged with public drunkenness after she caused a scene at a local child care center. She went to the center to pick up her granddaughter but personnel wouldn’t release the child due to her intoxicated condition.

Shartel was taken to the police station and released at a later time.

Jaswinder Singh

, 30, of Center Street, Tamaqua, was cited for public drunkenness on Nov. 24.

Police received a call from Singh at 9 p.m., who said someone was trying to kill him. Officers found the front door of the house wide open, with one of the windows broken. The interior was a mess, with lamps turned over and empty liquor bottles tossed all around. Singh was nowhere to be found.

When officers left the home they were told Singh had gone to Burger King. He was found in the fast food restaurant, so drunk he couldn’t stand.

He was taken to the police station.
