State police investigating numerous drug, alcohol and DUI cases

Cases involving drugs and alcohol and DUIs continue to dominate the police docket in Carbon and Monroe counties, where state police at Lehighton reported on numerous incidents throughout November. Police did not release the names of those charged.

• A 37-year-old Kunkletown man was charged for driving under the influence after police saw him commit minor summary traffic violations. The incident happened at 8:46 p.m. Nov. 15 on Route 209 at the Polk Township Fire Company. A series of field sobriety tests administered to the man showed in signs of impairment.

• A 34-year-old Palmerton man was charged for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm after a traffic stop at 10:29 p.m. Nov. 15 in the area of Dairy and Fireline roads in Lower Towamensing Township.

• Police seized drugs and drug paraphernalia at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 from a Saw Mill Road, Hamilton Township, location. A 44-year-old Stroudsburg man and a 45-year-old East Stroudsburg man will be arrested on illegal possession charges.

• A 23-year-old woman from Jim Thorpe will be arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance after she was stopped while driving on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 10. She was stopped for multiple traffic violations, and it was determined she was under the influence of the controlled substance. She was taken for a blood test. Results of which are pending.

• A 31-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop initiated due to traffic violations. She was stopped at 8:55 p.m. Nov. 10 at the intersection of Route 248 and State Road in Franklin Township. Charges are pending the results of blood tests.

• Multiple charges await a 36-year-old man from Polk Township who was stopped at the intersection of Interchange and Burger Hollow roads in Polk Township at 11:26 a.m. Nov. 5. The man was operating a vehicle without a valid state inspection, with an expired registration, his license is expired and he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

• A 31-year-old Saylorsburg man who was driving a vehicle that nearly struck a state police patrol car on Route 115, north of Gilbert Road, Chestnuthill Township, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened at 1:14 a.m. Nov. 5. He was taken for a blood test. Results are pending.
