November 11, 1956 — Gene Yasson tosses a 22-yard touchdown pass to Emmett McCall late in the fourth quarter to snap a tie and lift Marian to a 12-6 victory over Mount Carmel Catholic. The TD drive is set up by an interception from John Yorke. The Colts, coached by Hugh “Wink” Gallagher, actually trail at halftime before using a blocked punt to help tie the game. Charles Sproule comes up with the block and Bruce Breiner recovers at the 1-yard-line, from where Yorke bulls over the goal line on the next play.
