Three injured in Schuylkill crash

Three people were injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer rig and two pickups on Wednesday along Route 895 (Summer Valley Road) at the intersection with Church Street, in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said the three-vehicle crash occurred at 5:24 p.m. Troopers said Michael F. Barr Jr., 38, of Kelayres, driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, was stopped in the eastbound lane of 895 attempting to turn left onto Church Road when Melvin P. Hoffman, 70, of Marlin, operating a 2007 Freightliner tractor with trailer failed to see the stopped vehicle. The front of the tractor hit the rear of the Tacoma. The rig then continued eastbound and struck a 2007 Ford F-150 operated by Henry T. Clay, 50, of Leesport, Berks County.

Hoffman and Clay were taken by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, while Barr was taken to the same hospital by a family member. Troopers said the injuries appear to be minor for all three.

Hoffman was cited for the crash.
