The Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow Ministry will conduct a Snowflake 5K Run and One Mile Remembrance Walk on Dec. 9 in Lehighton. Registration will take place from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, 225 Iron St., Lehighton. The races being promptly at 9 a.m.

The course will begin at the church and continue within the Borough of Lehighton. There will be awards for overall male and female racers, as well as the top three finishers in each age bracket in the 5K event; and the top male and female walkers.

In addition to the run/walk, there will be food and refreshments available, basket and ticket raffles and information/resources about grief support in the area.

The event is a time to share a special fellowship for anyone dealing with the struggle of coping with grief and loss, especially during the holiday season.

A special Sunday evening candle lighting ceremony will be held in conjunction with Worldwide Children’s Remembrance Day.

Runners and walkers are welcome to wear winter/snow themed outfits, with prizes awarded for creativity and presentation

There will also be a snowflake wall where the names of deceased loved ones will be displayed.
