St. Luke’s Miners offering free breakfast to veterans

St. Luke’s Miners Campus invites all veterans and their families to its first veterans breakfast on Saturday. The event takes place from 7 to 10 a.m.

“Our hospital team appreciates and supports our community’s veterans,” said St. Luke’s Miners Campus President Bill Moyer. “This is a small way St. Luke’s Miners can show our appreciation for those brave, dedicated men and women to thank them for their service. We thought this would be a wonderful way to welcome our veterans into the hospital and thank them for serving us.”

The breakfast, which is free for veterans and $4 for family members, includes scrambled eggs, creamed chip beef on toast, bacon, oatmeal, hash browns, fruit, mini bagels, pastries, orange juice and coffee.

St. Luke’s Miners Campus executives and staff members will serve the breakfast. All veterans will receive a commemorative ribbon, a star from a retired flag, and the event will feature patriotic music along with a photo booth to create memories with family, friends and caregivers.

Veterans and their families who will attend are asked to use the main entrance to St. Luke’s Miners Campus at 360 W. Ruddle St., Coaldale and register by listing their branch of service and the years they served. The attendees will then be escorted to the cafeteria for breakfast.

“Many of our staff members are veterans or have family members who served,” Moyer said. “St. Luke’s provides care to thousands of veterans each year. The breakfast is a chance not just to say thanks on Veterans Day, but to share time together and celebrate their service.”
