November 7, 1998 — Palmerton’s Jeff Dobias completes Penn State University’s 3.1-mile golf course in a time of 16:12.73 to take fourth place at the PIAA Cross Country championships in the Class 2A field. Dobias betters his time (16:26.86) and placement (11th) from the previous year. Jim Thorpe’s Chelsea Mullins also gains a medal, finishing in 21st place with a time of 19:55.70. Northern Lehigh’s Alex Kowalcyk (27th) and Matt Oertner (34th) also place in the top 50.
