The greatest community spirit in years was shown Sunday afternoon when the Slatedale Fire Company played host to many other fire companies in Lehigh County for a parade of equipment and the housing and dedication of a new John Bean high-pressure fog pumper truck.
Participants included company President Kenneth Boyer, who offered the welcome, Vice President John Zellner, offering a history of the company, the Rev. Wayne Gregory, who asked the invocation and pronounced the benediction, and State Rep. Joseph Zellner, who spoke about legislation that has been passed concerning volunteer fire companies and their members.
