2 crashes in 1 hour in Franklin, no injuries

No injuries resulted in a pair of crashes Sunday afternoon in Franklin Township.

Township acting police Chief Jason Doll said the first incident, a one-car crash, occurred at 4:16 p.m. along Route 209 about a mile north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike exchange.

Doll said the front driver’s side brake of a 95 Chevy vehicle operated by Charles Dominie, 23, of Albrightsville, locked up, which forced him to cross over into oncoming traffic and strike an embankment, causing his vehicle to roll over onto its passenger side.

Dominie did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash, he said.

The vehicle sustained disabling severe damage, and was not drivable, Doll said.

Dominie’s vehicle had an expired inspection sticker, he said.

Township fire police assisted at the scene, Doll said.

The incident remains under investigation, he said.

Doll said police also responded to a second incident, a two-car crash, that took place at 4:54 p.m. at 2868 Interchange Road.

He said that crash occurred when Kyle Caretta, 18, of Kunkletown, was operating his 98 Honda Civic west on Interchange Road when he attempted to negotiate a curve and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to cross over into oncoming traffic and striking a vehicle operated by Christian Saldibar, 38, of Kunkletown, in the rear passenger side.

Doll said none of the three people involved in the crash — among them a 19-month-old child who was seated in the back seat — appeared to be injured in the crash.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were not drivable, he said.

Township fire police and Lehighton EMS assisted at the scene, Doll said.

The incident remains under investigation, he said.
