A Monroe County man was sentenced to a county prison term in two cases involving burglaries.
Joshua Richard Ackerman, 20, of East Stroudsburg, formerly of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to a total of one day less one year to one day less two years on charges of burglary and criminal trespass, both felonies.
He previously pleaded to the trespass count for an incident on Nov. 7, 2016, in Penn Forest Township filed by state police at Lehighton. On Tuesday he pleaded to the burglary charge for an incident on July 18 filed by state police at Lehighton also occurring in Penn Forest Township.
In addition to the prison term, Serfass ordered Ackerman to render a total of 200 hours community service when paroled, supply a DNA sample, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, get a comprehensive mental health evaluation, make total restitution of $4,064.81, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
He was given credit for 97 days spent in prison on the charges.
Serfass also ruled that Ackerman cannot be paroled until he is accepted into a mental health program.
