A hiker was rescued Wednesday afternoon from atop Hawk Mountain in Schuylkill County. The incident began at 1:30 p.m. when the man was hiking with family members along Skyline Trail. Fire companies from Deer Lake, Orwigsburg and Kempton in Berks counties were dispatched to the scene. A short time later the victim’s sister walked out to the command post explaining her brother fell while hiking the trail, receiving numerous fractures. He was treated out on the trail then taken off the mountain by a remote trail into Berks County.
