Rep. Doyle Heffley is holding a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Expo from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Palmerton High School. This expo is to help inform parents, children and families about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
The expo will feature dozens of resources with information about preventing drug and alcohol use and promoting healthy habits. Training for Narcan, the heroin overdose antidote, will be available. A mock teen bedroom will be set up for parents. A counselor will be available if someone needs to talk.
This event is open to all ages, and children are invited to wear Halloween costumes to trick-or-treat with vendors at the expo. A prescription drug-drop box will be on site for the safe disposal of unwanted or expired prescription drugs.
