Another threatening message found at middle school

(AP) The Blue Mountain Middle School was evacuated Monday morning after a threatening message was found on a bathroom wall.

The threat is the second one in less than a week.

Orwigsburg Police Chief John Koury said that as a result of the investigation into Monday’s threat, as well as a threat discovered last week, charges are pending against two juveniles.

On Monday, Koury said police were notified at 8:35 a.m. after a threatening message was discovered on a girls’ bathroom wall. For the safety of everyone, Koury said, the school was evacuated about 9 a.m. and a state police bomb detection unit was contacted.

The chief said the bomb detection K-9 unit arrived about 10:30 a.m., searched the school and compound, and determined no explosive devices existed.

Koury said it was decided to allow the students to re-enter the school and resume classes.

As a result, Koury said, police and school administration reviewed video images and also looked at the handwriting of the message and were able to determine the person responsible.

He said that appropriate charges against that person will be filed in the near future with Schuylkill County juvenile authorities.

A threat found in a boys’ bathroom at the school on Oct. 19 is also resulting in charges being file against a juvenile student.
