Warm temperatures and sunny skies provided a perfect setting for Lehighton’s 47th annual Halloween parade on Saturday, with residents lining the streets to take in all of the fun floats, spooky spectacles and tasty treats.

With over 60 organizations joining the parade in six divisions, there were plenty of unique floats to enjoy.

Musical standouts included the Lehighton Area High School Band, the Perseverance Jazz Band and the Rajah Shriners Oriental Band, all of which kept the crowd’s energy up as the floats streamed down the streets.

Halloween staples included “Griff’s Pirates of Lehighton,” featuring the swashbucklers of Griff’s Ale Haus and Grille, “Girl Scout Zombie Prom” by Troop 329, and “Witches You a Happy Halloween” by Brownie Troop 3176.

Local law enforcement and emergency services, including the Lehighton Borough Police, the Mahoning Township Police, the Lehighton Fire Department, the Mahoning Valley Fire Company, the Franklin Township Police Department, and 2017’s grand marshals, the emergency medical technicians of Lehighton and Mahoning Valley, strutted their stuff, garnering plenty of acclaim from the crowd.

And then there were the less orthodox entries.

While not terrifying, perhaps there was some horror to be had from George’s Sewer and Drain Cleaning’s “Poop Emoji” float.

And while even one Santa Claus could easily put the kids into excitement overload, one can only imagine how exuberant they were after witnessing three or four Old Saint Nicks.

That is, if they weren’t distracted by their overflowing buckets and bags of candy, courtesy of the paraders, who tossed treats to the spectators as they passed by.

With the extensive variety of creative costumes, meticulously decorated vehicles, and festive tunes, just about anyone would find it a challenge to select a favorite float for the parade.

“My favorite was … all of them!” Jacob Bauman, 5, said when asked about his preferred float.
