One person was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a crash along Interstate 81 in Ryan township.

The crash occurred as the motorist was traveling north at the 126.2 mile marker when the car swerved to the right from the passing lane.

The vehicle slid across the roadway crashing  through the guard rails rolling down a steep embankment well over a hundred feet.

A motorist who witnessed the crash reported seeing a person being ejected from the unit. The victim was brought up to the roadway where medics treated and then flew the person to an area trauma center.

State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
