Three defendants who previously pleaded to driving under the influence and related charges were sentenced this week in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:

Matthew Scott Petko

, 41, of Weatherly was sentenced on the DUI counts and also for driving under suspension-DUI related and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On the DUI charge he was sentenced to serve four to 60 months in prison, pay a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months. On the driving under suspension count he was sentenced to serve 45-90 days in jail (but must serve the full 90 days) and pay a fine of $1,000. The prison terms run concurrent. On the one drug count he was placed on probation for a year concurrent with the others and on the second he was fined $100.

He must also render 100 hours of community service. He was arrested on Feb. 8 on the DUI count along Brenkman Drive in Packer Township by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

The one drug count stemmed from the DUI arrest. The second occurred on Feb. 26 at the state police barracks in Lehighton. He arrived at the barracks on another matter and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. A pat-down search resulted in the paraphernalia being found on him.

Shawn Conner

, 33, of Weissport, was sentenced on two DUI counts.

He was arrested on the first DUI count on March 16, 2016, along Union Street by Lehighton police. The second arrest occurred on Nov. 22, 2016, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. In both cases, a test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

On the first case he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and license suspended for a year. On the second DUI he was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months. The jail terms run concurrent. He was also ordered to render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.

He will begin the jail term on Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. and serve three days and the remaining time on consecutive two-day weekends beginning Nov. 10.

Lindsey Leigh Hallman

, 30, of Stroudsburg, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service. It was a first offense.

She was arrested on Sept. 20, 2016, by Kidder Township police along Route 534. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
