Tamaqua Area School Board
On an 8-0 vote, with Director Aaron Frantz absent, Tamaqua Area School Board on Tuesday approved the following:
• The resignation of custodian Jamie Lee Applegate, effective Oct. 5.
• Removing Elizabeth Hannon and Judith Hall from the professional substitute list, effective immediately.
• Alycia Gerber, Cassandra Haag, Nick McBreen, Joe Yurkonis, Janelle McDonald, Pamela Sabath and Tatevik Sakash as professional substitute guest teachers.
• Diane Jones and Gwen Schock, as highly qualified part-time paraprofessionals.
• Stephanie Krause, Joyce Maffei and Fay Montgomery as not highly qualified part-time paraprofessionals.
• Ruth Benner, Barbara Lacy, and Danielle Schieck as substitute paraprofessionals.
• Jennifer Kinder as a mentor for Lennae Thompson, elementary teacher, $600.
• Danielle Schieck and Patti Sue Coleman, as Kistler’s Bus monitors, for the 2017-18 school year.
• The subgrant agreement with the Lancaster Lebanon IU 13 for $10,000 for the AACHIEVE project beginning July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.
• The Letter of Linkage with Behavioral Outpatient Clinic, New Beginnings, Pottsville, for providing continuity of outpatient care.
• The first reading of a policy related to an online course of the Tamaqua Area School District Virtual Campus.
• The first reading of a policy related to student attendance.
• Entering into an Affiliation Agreement with Mansfield University for education of Mansfield students for the 2017-18 school year through the 2021-22 school year.
• Participating in the Pennsylvania Education Joint Purchasing Council’s bid process for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
• Participating in the E-rate program for the 2018-19 funding year to execute agreements as necessary for timeline compliance subject to future ratification by the board.
• Appointing Portnoff Law Associates as the district’s delinquent real estate tax collector for unpaid taxes from the 2017 collection cycle.
• Authorizing the sale of a parcel at 325 Valley St. in Schuylkill Township to Francis Devisia for the price of $1,474.
• Approving, on an ongoing basis, properties recommended for Sheriff’s Sale by the district’s delinquent real estate tax collector, Portnoff Law Associates Ltd.
• Adopted the second reading of a policy related to wellness.
