Tamaqua Borough Council President David Mace presented two certificates of appreciation from the Tamaqua Salvation Army to borough Manager Kevin A. Steigerwalt and Chief of Police Rick Weaver.
Mace read the certificates, signed by Salvation Army Major Sharon Whispell, with both stating, “This certificate is presented in grateful appreciation of volunteer service in your community and to the uplifting and caring of others on behalf of the Tamaqua Salvation Army.”
“The major mentioned about how appreciative she is with the borough’s help with anything the Salvation Army does and how our work crews are always there to help them with the kids carnival and other events,” Gursky said.
“The Salvation Army interacts with the police quite often with their disaster team when something happens. At kettle time, the police officers make sure that the kettle workers get back to the Salvation Army safe and sound with the donations. It was a heartfelt appreciation.”
“I would echo Councilman Gursky’s comments that it is reflective of a lot of the behind-the-scenes work (Weaver and Steigerwalt) do on their behalf,” Mace said. “On behalf of the borough, it’s always appreciated.”
