SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — The former attorney for a man convicted in the shooting death of a man found in a sport utility vehicle in a Pennsylvania ravine says he made an error during the trial.
The (Scranton) Times-Tribune reports that attorney Bernard Brown acknowledged Monday that he should have entered qualifications of a defense expert witness into evidence during Jason Dominick’s trial.
The 27-year-old defendant is seeking a new trial in Lackawanna County in the July 2013 death of 24-year-old Frank Bonacci. Dominick was convicted of third-degree murder and conspiracy and sentenced to 40 to 80 years.
Co-defendant Neil Pal has also appealed his first-degree murder conviction. Prosecutors said Pal drove Bonacci to an isolated area and provided the gun used by Dominick, and they then launched the SUV down a 72-foot ravine.
