State police at Frackville reported investigating three crashes on Monday, all along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported about 8:31 a.m. in West Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Jessica A. Vargo, 22, of Exeter, Berks County, and Jason E. Dubose, 32, of Fort Pierce, Florida, were both northbound with Vargon behind Dubose. Troopers said Vargon’s 2016 Toyota Corolla crashed into the rear of Dubose’s 2016 Kenworth tractor with trailer.
Vargo and passenger Cotillo, 21, of Wilkes-Barre, and Dubose were not injured. The Toyota had to be towed from the scene. The trailer sustained minor damages.
Troopers cited Vargo for the crash.
• The second crash was reported at 9:21 a.m. in Ryan Township. Adam S. Derck, 26, of Shamokin, Northumberland County, was driving a 2015 Honda Civic southbound when he lost control on standing water. The Civic went onto the west berm and struck a concrete barrier.
Derck was not injured but the Civic had to be towed from the scene.
• A hit-and-run reported at 11:26 a.m. also in Ryan Township. Troopers said Heather M. Stec, 45, of Reston, Virginia, was driving a 2011 Subaru Outback southbound in the passing lane. As Stec attempted to pass another vehicle, described as a truck tractor and trailer, the rig operator moved to the left lane to pass another rig in front of him and in doing so pulled into the path of Stec. The rig impacted with the front right passenger side of the Outback causing minor damages. After impact the rig operator continued southbound without stopping. Stec was not injured.
