Jim Thorpe school board honors director

Jim Thorpe Area School District’s board of education warmly accepted a resolution of respect and sympathy for the late Michael J. Huber from the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit board of directors on Monday.

Board President Michael Principe read the resolution aloud to an audience including Huber’s widow, Pat Huber, their two children, and two grandchildren.

“The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit board of directors does hereby extend its deepest sympathy to his family and acknowledge to them our gratitude and deepest admiration for his many years of faithful and devoted service to the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit and to his Jim Thorpe Area School District community that he cared so much about,” the resolution, signed by executive director Elaine E. Eib, said. “It was an honor and privilege to have worked with him; he will be sorely missed.”

This resolution of respect and appreciation was unanimously approved by the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit’s board of directors at their Sept. 18 meeting.

Huber, who passed away on Sept. 2, served as head of the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit committee for the Jim Thorpe school board.

Principe also presented a framed copy of the letter featuring Huber’s name plaque from his seat at the school board to Huber’s wife.

“He loved every minute of his time on the board,” Huber said of her husband. “He always did his homework, he looked forward to it, and he came home full of information. He really loved it.”
