Lehighton state police report on incidents
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported investigating the following incidents.
• A 31-year-old Palmerton man, who police said is a “suspected overdose” victim, was transported to the Palmerton Hospital for medical attention on Sept. 20. Police were called to the scene on Ore Street in Bowmanstown at 12:35 p.m. on the above date.
• State police were summoned on Sept. 28 to a Twin Flower Circle, Towamensing Township, residence to investigate a criminal mischief incident.
The victim told police someone dug a hole at the edge of her property. The incident happened between 1:30-4 p.m. on the above date.
• A deer ran into a 2005 Dodge Durango as it was traveling west on the Mahoning Mountain Road in East Penn Township at 6:40 a.m. Sept. 28, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks. Police said the vehicle was east of the intersection with Troxell Road when the deer ran onto the roadway, coming from the eastbound lane, and struck the vehicle in the front driver’s side area. The driver drove about one-eighth of a mile to Troxell Road before pulling off the roadway.
• Two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 5:32 p.m. Sunday on Route 115 in Ross Township. State police said the incident happened when a 2000 GMC Jimmy pulled out of a parking lot on the south side of the roadway and caused a collision with a 2012 Nissan Altima in the northbound lane of travel. Damages to both vehicles were termed “non-disabling.” Neither operator was injured. The driver of the Jimmy was cited for vehicles entering or crossing a roadway.
• A 32-year-old Kunkletown woman is facing charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance as a result of a traffic stop conducted by state police at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday. The woman was stopped while driving in the 100 block of Windy Hill Road in Polk Township. Police said after the initial contact was made and tests were performed, the operator was taken into custody for DUI. A search of the vehicle yielded drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Charges are pending the result of blood tests.
