Shade Tree Commission
The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting the fall plantings in the borough on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. The trees will be ordered in the next few weeks. Anyone interested in information on this program may call Lou Vermillion at 570-645-9772 or John Kupec at 570-645-9644.

Senior center
The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Oct. 9 to 13 is:
Monday: Closed for Columbus Day
Tuesday: Roast chicken and mac & cheese or tuna salad sandwich
Wednesday: French onion soup and chef salad with chicken
Thursday: Beef tips in gravy and mashed potatoes or chicken bacon sandwich
Friday: Roast pork and mashed squash or egg salad sandwich
The senior center has also announced upcoming events for Oct. 9-13.
The center will be closed Oct. 9 in observance of Columbus Day; Jack Gunsser will be there at 11 a.m. on Oct. 10 with all his gadgets for Can you Guess What This Is?; Birthday and Bingo on Oct. 11 at 11 a.m.; Now You Have It Now You Don’t on Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.; a van trip on Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., center will be open.
Golden Agers
The Oct. 9 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers will be held at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall. Doors will open 11:30 a.m. Members wishing to participate in the Chinese Auction are reminded to bring in new items for the auction. Tickets can be purchased at the meeting for those wishing to be involved.
The indoor picnic will begin at 1 p.m.
