Blue Mountain Health System will co-sponsor an AARP Safe Driver 8-hour Basic Course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 and 19. The class will be held at the Bowmanstown Medical Plaza, 512 Bank St. in Bowmanstown. This is an eight-hour class, so you must attend both days.

The course is designed for drivers 50 years of age or older and is classroom instruction only. Drivers who complete the AARP Driver Safety Course will receive a certificate which entitles them to a rate reduction on auto insurance.

People who are interested in taking the course should confirm with their auto insurance company as to the discount percentage. The usual discount is 5 percent, and the certificate is valid for three years. AARP membership is not required, but proof of membership is required for a discounted rate for the class.
