Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass on Thursday accepted a Lehighton woman’s guilty pleas in five drug-related cases, but will wait to impose punishment until he learns more about her.
Alicia S. Hibbler
, 38, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance on Jan. 21, charged by Lehighton police; possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence on Jan. 20, charged by Lehighton police; driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Jan. 13, charged by Lehighton police; driving under the influence and driving while her license was suspended or revoked on Feb. 14, charged by state police at Lehighton; and possession of drug paraphernalia on Feb. 4, charged by Lehighton police.
Serfass accepted her pleas, but ordered a presentence investigation.
Other pleas
Courtney L. Dickson
, 23, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty in two cases.
The first was to a charge of theft by unlawful taking filed by state police at Fern Ridge on Oct. 20, 2016, after she took and used a credit card belonging to a Penn Forest Township woman to purchase $117 worth of merchandise.
In the second case, she pleaded guilty to driving under the influence on Feb. 4, 2016, on Route 903 in Penn Forest. She was charged by state police at Lehighton, who reported her blood alcohol content as 0.25 percent. The threshold for impaired driving is 0.08 percent.
Serfass deferred sentencing to a later date.
Marion J. Cesare
, 52, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Feb. 4. He was charged by state police at Lehighton.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Vanessa M. Fethiere,
27, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, methadone and marijuana, and driving while her license was suspended or revoked on March 23, 2016. She was charged by state police at Lehighton.
Serfass sentenced her to 72 hours to six months in jail, with credit for two days served. She was fined $1,000, had her license suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to perform 25 hours of community service and attend Alcohol Highway Safety School.
Serfass also fined her $200 on the license charge.
Wayne B. Groff
, 28, of Brodheadsville, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence on April 19, 2015, on Route 534 in Penn Forest Township.
He was charged by state police at Fern Ridge. His blood alcohol content was 0.13 percent.
Groff had been placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, but that was revoked after he failed to comply with the terms.
Serfass sentenced Groff to 48 hours to six months in jail, pay restitution of $1,000 to the man whose stone wall he hit and $6,000 to Mutual Liberty insurance (both have been repaid).
Groff’s license is suspended for 12 months, he was ordered to perform 25 hours of community service, and fined $500.
Ronald S. Hemerly
, 45, of Jim Thorpe, admitted to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Percocet, on Nov. 14, 2016, on Route 903 in Jim Thorpe. He was charged by state police at Lehighton.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Jordan Hughes
, 30, of Bangor, Northampton County, admitted to driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving while his license was suspended or revoked on Jan. 1 on Bridge Street, Weissport. He was charged by state police at Lehighton.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Bruce Meixsell,
26, of Palmerton, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance on March 20. He was charged by Lehighton police.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Adam J. Menech
, 34, of Albrightsville, admitted to driving under the influence of a controlled substance on March 25 on Route 534 in Penn Forest Township. He was charged by state police at Fern Ridge.
In a second case, Menech pleaded to a charge of false swearing on Nov. 3, 2016, at Eastern Arms & Outfitters, Penn Forest Township.
State police at Fern Ridge said he made false statements on an application to purchase a firearm.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Derek L. Thompson,
24, of Nesquehoning, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and marijuana, on Aug. 17, 2016, on Route 443. He was charged by Lehighton police.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
James J. Ward,
38, of Warren, Bradford County, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Nov. 23, 2016, on Maury Road, Penn Forest Township. He was charged by state police at Lehighton.
