Lehighton Borough Council also took the following action:
• Tabled the sewer disposal system ordinance.
• Approved the 2018 police pension minimum municipal obligation in the amount of $122,721, which will result in a decrease of $30,990.
• Approved the 2018 nonuniform pension minimum municipal obligation in the amount of $177,799, which will result in an increase of $4,148.
• Agreed to give the fire department permission to apply for the Carbon County Foundation Grant for rescue gloves and hoods, as well as the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner for stabilization equipment for air bags.
• Agreed to change the status of Jonathan Tracy from probationary employee to permanent employee as of Aug. 14.
• Agreed to readvertise for a vacant position on the Lehighton Water Authority.
• Granted the Lehighton United Veterans Organization permission to erect six flagpoles at Lehighton Veterans Memorial Park that were donated by the Lehighton Orioles Nest 183.
• Waived the new ordinance fee for the Rocktoberfest food vendors because the event was already set up before the adoption of the ordinance. The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will host the event Oct. 14-15.
• Approved the MetroTek assignment of the contract. Council had previously approved the change in contract documents for the 12,470 Volt Upgrade Project on Iron and Bridge streets.
