Schuylkill readies for November election

Gearing up for the Nov. 7 general election, Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved the hiring of rovers and drivers for the Voter Registration/Election Bureau.

The hire include 11 rovers, each of whom will earn $10 an hour and will be reimbursed 53.5 cents per mile.

The rovers travel on Election Day to assigned polling sites or where needed.

They will start with a target date of Oct. 9 or earlier as needed for the purpose of logistics/accuracy and preparation for the election.

They are Mike Botto, Carol Leashefski, Bob Fallan, Ron Coleman, Daniel Wachter, Joe Matz, Jim Gustas, Carol Cooney-Syzdek, Jean Quirk, Tony Downey and Janet Terefencko.

Commissioners also approved the hiring of 10 machine delivery drivers.

They are Kenneth Eichenberg, $170; Jason Frantz, $160; William Klinger, $160; Thomas Kurtek, $140; Walter Leashefski, $210; Diane Robbins, $210; Katie Dinger, $220 (temporary for Diane Tobin); Denise Wallace, $210; Christine Wartman, $210, and Joe Zurat, $200.

Commissioners also issued two proclamations, one recognizing the 30th anniversary of the Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited chapter 537, and proclaiming October as Bullying Prevention Month in the county.
