Carbon County court — DUI
Eight people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced last Thursday in Carbon County court.
Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:
Ricky G. Andrew
, 34, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 90 days in prison followed by 57 months in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program with the first nine months on electronic monitoring.
Andrew was arrested on Nov. 11, 2016, at Pine and Amidon streets by Summit Hill police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $2,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance on drug and alcohol use.
He was given credit for 28 days spent in an inpatient rehabilitation program. He began serving the remaining 62 days in jail at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 and will serve it on consecutive, two-day weekends.
David Allen Christman
, 31, of Kutztown, was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in prison. On a drug count he was fined $200 and costs, and on a reckless driving charge $200 and costs.
He was arrested on Sept. 14, 2015, by state police at Lehighton along Upper Nis Hollow Road in Mahoning Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.
He was given credit for 18 days spent in prison on the charge. He will begin the jail term at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.
Arthur Nicholas Pogosian-Rozin
, 19, of Darien, Connecticut, was sentenced to serve 90 days to two years in prison followed by three years of probation.
He was arrested on Dec. 12, 2016, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.
He was given credit for 42 days already served.
He will begin the jail term for the remaining 48 days at 5 p.m. on Oct. 20.
Lisa Marie Reese
, 32, of Stroudsburg, was sentenced to serve 10 days to 24 months in prison.
She was arrested on June 12, 2016, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.22 BAC.
She was also ordered to pay a fine of $500, license suspended for a year, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.
She will begin the jail term at 7 a.m. on Sept. 29 and serve consecutive weekends of three days and one day the final weekend on Oct. 20.
Steven Paul Paulino
, 25, of Bronx, New York, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail.
He was arrested on April 10, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC and the presence of a controlled substance.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for 14 days already spent in jail on the charge and paroled.
Trevor Shawn Strohl
, 36, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail.
He was arrested on Feb. 2 along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, render 25 hours of community service and get a mental health evaluation.
He was given credit for five days already served and paroled.
Robert Alvan Zimmerman
, 49, of Nesquehoning, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail.
He was arrested on March 24 by Nesquehoning police along Catawissa Street. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He will begin the jail term at 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 and serve two days; Oct. 6, two days; and Oct. 14, one day.
Robert Kenneth Davis Jr.
, 54, of Lansford, was placed on probation for six months.
He was arrested on Jan. 15 along Abbott Street by Lansford police. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
