Tamaqua police filed charges against Eric Berger, 33, of the 100 block of Penn Street, Tamaqua, after receiving a call about a domestic incident on Sept. 11.

Police were called to Berger’s home at 3:06 p.m. where they met with a woman who said she had been assaulted by Berger. The victim said it started as a disagreement but quickly escalated into physical violence. At one point she was grabbed by the throat. As Berger choked her he also threatened to kill her. Just as she started to pass out she was released.

Berger was charged with felony strangulation, making terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
