State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an assault incident involving a gun.

Troopers did not release any names but released the following information:

At 9:40 p.m. in the 400 block of West Market Street, in Orwigsburg, a man struck a woman, causing her nose to bleed. The man then retrieved a gun and pointed it at the woman and forced her into a bathroom to clean herself up, pulling her hair. The man then slapped the woman several more times.

The man walked away and the woman was able to flee the house to a neighbor’s for help. Troopers arrived on scene a short time later but the man had left the scene.

A warrant has been obtained for the man’s arrest. It is believed that he is in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
