Fire in train car in Jim Thorpe

Engines and personnel from the Jim Thorpe Fire Department responded Monday afternoon around 4 p.m. to a fire in a train car near the new borough bridge in Jim Thorpe after a cleaning person noticed smoke coming out of the overhead alcove of a car. Firefighters pulled the overhead of the car's interior down, and while they saw no flames, there was quite a bit of smoke coming out of it. They put water in the overhead area, which they said knocked it down quickly. No further details are available at this time. VICTOR IZZO/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
