Carbon court - Probation/parole hearings

The county court conducted probation/parole revocation hearings recently against defendants who had petitions filed by the adult probation office for violating the terms of their release.

Kyle Brodt, 26, of Albrightsville, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by being in possession of drug paraphernalia, failed to report to the probation office as directed, tested positive for marijuana on three occasions, failed to report of a scheduled urine screen and failed to make a concerted effort to pay court costs.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced him to serve three to six months in the county prison with credit for 26 days already served.Jeremy Tobin, 39, of Nesquehoning had his parole revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for alcohol which violated the zero tolerance condition.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced him to serve 45 days in the county prison with credit for 29 days already served.William Derau, 43, of Lansford, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, absconded from his approved residence and failed to engage in and complete drug and alcohol treatment.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve 45 days to 12 months in prison with credit for 35 days already served.ARD revokedRichard Bocina, 54, of Jim Thorpe, had his placement in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program revoked by Serfass on a charge of driving under the influence on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to complete alcohol highway safety program classes and failing to complete 50 hours of community service.The revocation is effective Dec. 1. However, if he completes the community service and the alcohol highway safety program classes by that date the order will be vacated.
