Monroe DA investigating coroner's office

The Office of the District Attorney has been actively investigating allegations of misconduct concerning the Office of the Coroner, according to a release issued by the office today.

" This investigation is ongoing and predates the filing of lawsuits by past or present employees of the office," according to the release issued by Chief County Det. Eric J. Kerchner.

"As this matter is under investigation no finding of wrong doing has been made to date," Kerchner said.

Two suits have been filed, alleging that Monroe County's chief deputy coroner, who is the wife of Coroner Robert Allen, took the belongings of the dead, boasted of her extramarital affairs at work and changed payroll and overtime records to earn more money, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.

Lauren Fizz, who until recently was a deputy coroner in Monroe County, filed a civil rights suit in August which claims she was fired from her job for reporting Kathleen "Traci" Allen's alleged misconduct.

Deputy Coroner Michael Sax filed a suit last week, alleging retaliation for complaining about Traci Allen and declining sexual advances.
