Carbon County court - DUI

Five people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic imposed sentences on the following:Jamie Lynn Schembri, 39, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2016, along Overlook Drive in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. He was given credit for 11 days and paroled.On a driving under suspension charge he was fined $750.Michael James Smith,33, of Summit Hill, was arrested on July 19, 2016, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,500 and one-year license suspension.On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia he was placed on probation for six months consecutive to the DUI charge and on a summary motor vehicle code violation he was fined $25 and costs.He was given credit for one day. He will serve remaining two days beginning at 7 p.m. on Sept. 22.Chandra Deanna Faison,40, of Philadelphia, was arrested on March 23, 2013, along Route 209 by Franklin Township police. A test showed 0.23 BAC.A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Brittanie Lee Farrington,26, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Dec. 21, 2016, along Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.15 blood alcohol content.She was sentenced to serve nine days to six months in prison, a fine of $1,500 and a one-year license suspension.She was given credit for nine days spent in an inpatient program and paroled.Lisa Marie Williams, 48, of Lehighton, was arrested on March 18, 2016, along Route 248 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. She refused a test.A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluations.
