Passion for outdoors

Lisa Meranti, a former Jim Thorpe resident who credits a single tree in the Jim Thorpe area as the basis for her life's work, explains a little bit about OneTreeLove, her brain child that pairs her passions of the outdoors with yoga.

"There are so many styles of yoga," she said, "almost like a tree's branches. If you think of it like a tree there are eight branches to the definition of yoga."Meranti focuses on two of the branches - movement and meditation."I predominantly focus on those two branches a lot. In my style of yoga, it comes from a place of being mindful and tuning into the body and using the breath to be your focus so that your single focus is on your breath to become more aware of your body."Many yoga instructors keep this practice on a mat, but Meranti prefers to utilize the outdoors more for OneTreeLove, whether it be taking her class on a yoga hike, nature adventure, on a paddleboard or in a kayak or just being in one of the many recreational parks around Ohio."The real benefit for me is when we can take it off our mats and it helps us stay centered and continuously be aware of what we need and how to breathe through difficult times."
