New Ringgold teen reaches Eagle Scout

Jacob Rudy, the son of Francis and Kristine Rudy, of New Ringgold, was awarded the Eagle Scout honor in an Eagle Scout Court of Honor celebration on Aug. 13 by Clamtown Troop 755.

Jacob, a junior at Tamaqua Area Senior High School, has been involved in scouting for more than 11 years.He's earned over 21 merit badges and has served as the following with Troop 755; senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and scribe.His scouting experiences include Order of the Arrow 2015, Brotherhood Member Kittatinny Lodge No. 5 2016,

C.O.P.E. Challenge HMSR 2016 and he attended the 2017 National Scout Jamboree with Troop 1437.Jacob completed a community-oriented project for his church, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua.The project involved a landscape renovation. A total of 119 hours spent on the following; trimming trees, removal of trees, removal of garbage, old mulch, paper and sidewalk edging. Jacob used more than 10 tons of black mulch to beautify the project.He also planted flowers and replaced the edging along the sidewalks. Jacob raised money and had various monetary donations to purchase the materials for the project.He thanked Dennis DeAngelo for use of his equipment to obtain and haul the mulch.Also, Andrew Deitrich of Deitrich's Tree Service and General Contracting, for donating his time and equipment to remove trees and trim shrubs.Jacob awarded his parents with a special pin to thank them for their support during scouting.He also awarded several close family members and friends mentor pins who have given him much direction in life and with his project including: Dennis DeAngelo, Tom Delay, uncle Joe Rudy Jr., grandfather Donald Fegley Sr., the Rev. Cindy White and his Scoutmaster Dale Osenbach.He thanked state Sen. Dave Argall and District Attorney Christine Holman, Troop 755, along with family and friends who attended the ceremony and celebration.
