The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania's Better Breathers Club, a welcoming support group and discussion period for individuals with lung disease and their caregivers, will host its Better Breathers Club Pulmonary Support Group meeting at 6:30this evening at the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation, 150 Mundy St., #3, Wilkes-Barre Township, in the board room.
The featured speaker is Dr. Pramthesh Desai, a pulmonologist in Wilkes-Barre who is affiliated with multiple hospitals and serves as the director of pulmonary medicine at John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation. Dr. Desai will discuss new pulmonary medications.An informational session will follow in which attendees and their families can ask questions about lung disease. This is a free event for individuals and their families who have lung disease.Lung cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of both women and men in the United States, and approximately two-thirds of people diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked or are former smokers.More than 32 million Americans live with a chronic lung disease.
