Wine Harvest Weekend set for Sept. 9-10

On Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, the eight locally owned and operated wineries of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail will celebrate the grape harvest during the annual Harvest Weekend event.

Wineries will offer a variety of activities and features such as tastings, tours, food and wine pairings, food trucks and live entertainment.Event hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 9 and from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 10. www.HarvestWeekendLVWT.com for complete event details.Harvest Weekend highlights:Amore Vineyards, Nazareth, will serve samples of homemade lasagna with its Cabaret Amore wine.Blue Mountain Vineyards, New Tripoli, will pair Bri's Blush with samples of fresh artisanal bread. Free music from Nick Lindsay on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., and James Supra and Sarah Ayers from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Advance reservations for Sunday are required. A wine tasting is included with the ticket price.Clover Hill Vineyards, Breinigsville, will offer samples of its Harvest Sangria, as well as for purchase by the glass. A veggie wagon from Bleiler's Produce Patch will be on-site with locally grown, organic vegetables.Franklin Hill Vineyards, Bangor, will release its new shareable snack menu, and Potion X pumpkin spice wine will make its return. Local craft beer and local vendors will be on hand, and autumn-inspired cocktails will be available for tasting or for by the glass. There will be hayrides and tours both days.Galen Glen, Andreas, will feature guided walking tours of the vineyard and wine cellar. Wear appropriate footgear. The fee per guest includes a glass of wine. The winery will offer a harvest cheeseboard of local cheeses and accouterments for sale to pair with wine by the glass.Pinnacle Ridge, Kutztown, is teaming up with Smokehouse Food Truck to serve samples of BBQ-inspired chicken and beef dishes which they'll be pairing with a choice of either 2015 Pinot Noir (light, peppery) or 2015 Quaff (semisweet, fruity).Tolino Vineyards, Bangor, will feature free live music on Saturday by George Baier, wagon tours of the vineyard and vegetarian squash soup paired with chardonnay.Vynecrest, Breinigsville, will feature the PA Preferred Stuffed to the Grills food truck both days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a free tour of the vineyard and wine cellar both days. Free samples of pumpkin whoopie pies will be available with tastes of Autumn Gold wine. On Saturday from 1-4 p.m., Anthony Cubbage will play music live in the Vyneskeller.
