StrongWomen/Growing Stronger Program to be held in October

Penn State Extension in Carbon County will be offering the StrongWomen/Growing Stronger Program, a six-week exercise program for middle-aged and older adults on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 3 through Nov. 9.

There will be three sessions to choose from: 9-10 a.m., 1-2 p.m. or 5-6 p.m. All classes will be held at St. Peter's Community Center, located at 177 Main Road, Weissport.The series will be led by either Keri Byrne, a nutrition education adviser, or Diane Szwajkowski, retired massage therapist and personal trainer.The StrongWomen/Growing Stronger program is astrength-training and nutrition program for individuals who have been active or sedentary for the past few years and are interested in improving their health.The classes, which meet twice a week, consist of a nutrition lesson and eight to 12 strength training exercises that help improve strength, balance and flexibility.Adults 40 and older are invited to attend a free,information session onSept. 12. Sessions will be held at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. at St. Peter's Community Center.There will be a slide presentation, a demonstration of some of the exercisesand an opportunity to ask questions.
