Police: Man threatened to burn home
A Northampton County man is in custody on charges rammed his grill into a neighbor’s front door and threatened to burn down the home.
George Bellamore, 33, of Danielsville, faces charges of criminal trespass, terroristic threats, drug possession, criminal mischief, and loitering and prowling at night,According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Philip Mirabile of the Lehigh Township Police Department:At 3:26 a.m., Mirabile was dispatched to the 1100 block of East Stateside Drive for a man attempting to gain entry into a woman’s residence.Mirabile was told that a man was attempting to ram a cooking grill into the front door and the woman was standing behind the door armed with a knife for protection.Mirabile saw the man, later identified as Bellamore, placing items in a pickup.When Mirabile asked Bellamore why he was at the neighbor’s residence, he quickly walked away while yelling that he was in his own truck.Bellamore quickly entered the residence and could be heard yelling inside, visibly agitated.The woman told police she was getting ready to leave for work when Bellamore walked inside the residence.Bellamore screamed for her to contact 911 because a woman was having a seizure. The complainant told Mirabile she felt nervous and walked Bellamore out to the front porch.The woman said she really became nervous when she noticed a machete sleeve slung over his shoulder, so she quickly entered her residence and locked the door.Bellamore used the cooking grill to ram the front door while yelling that he was going to “blow the place up.”The woman told Mirabile that she thought Bellamore was going to kill her if he gained access, and that she armed herself with a knife while she waiting for police to arrive.Bellamore was placed in custody, and a small amount of methamphetamine was discovered in his pants pocket.Bellamore also admitted that he used meth earlier, and Mirabile said it was clear that Bellamore was suffering from hallucinations and a distorted reality.He was then transported to the police station, and then to Palmerton Hospital for a medical evaluation.Bellamore is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Hawke of Northampton at 9 a.m. Sept. 11.He is currently in Northampton County Prison under $15,000 bail.
