St. Luke's opens new specialty pavilion
St. Luke's University Health Network celebrated the opening of its new specialty pavilion at the Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township on Thursday.
The new $26 million pavilion expands the breadth of offerings at the St. Luke's Anderson Campus to include ambulatory surgery, urology, OB/GYN, gastroenterology and laboratory services. The three-floor, 75,000-square-foot building is located at 2200 St. Luke's Boulevard in Bethlehem Township, and will house 200 employees when all areas are open."The opening of the specialty pavilion shows that St. Luke's is committed to making the Anderson Campus a model, 21st-century hospital," said Dr. Zach Goldsmith, medical director of the Ambulatory Surgical Care Department. "The outpatient surgical facilities here were designed with the patient first and foremost in mind. Combining a convenient setting with the latest advances in medicine gives patients easy access to the highest quality health care in the Lehigh Valley."Located just off Route 33, the facility was designed with convenience in mind and is surrounded by ample, nearby parking.On the third floor, the Ambulatory Surgery Center houses operating and procedure rooms. The established practices that have relocated to or opened new offices in the pavilion's second floor are St. Luke's Riverside Women's Healthcare, St. Luke's Center for Urology and St. Luke's Gastroenterology Specialists. St. Luke's Laboratory Services and a cafe are on the first floor.The pavilion also includes 25,000 square feet of shell space to accommodate future expansion.In addition to the new services, St. Luke's Anderson Campus features advanced services in the hospital, cancer center and medical office building. Patients benefit from inpatient care, emergency room services, surgical services, radiology services and more.St. Luke's has a long history in the community and takes very seriously its commitment to providing the people who live here with the very best health care.At the time of its opening in 2011, St. Luke's Anderson Campus was the first new, full-service, acute-care hospital built in Pennsylvania in 40 years. Located on 520 acres, the $175 million, 256,000-square-foot project included a 108-bed hospital, state-of-the-art cancer center, and medical office building dedicated to bone and joint, heart and vascular, and primary care medicine. The project injected tens of millions of dollars into the local economy annually and created 350 construction jobs, 550 permanent jobs and more than 500 indirect positions.In 2013, the hospital expanded its Emergency Department by doubling the number of treatment rooms and tripling the staff. Seventeen new private rooms were added to the space. That same year, a newly outfitted medical/surgical floor was opened at the campus. The fourth-floor addition provides specialized care for oncology patients.
