Carbon EMA announces fall CERT training

The Carbon County Emergency Management Agency will hold its fall Community Emergency Response Team training session in September.

The free four-day course, which aims to prepare residents to help themselves and their neighbors during an emergency, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, 18 and 25, as well as Oct. 2 at the Carbon County EMA building, 1264 Emergency Lane, Nesquehoning. Attendance at all four courses to become certified is required.It will cover first aid and triage, disaster preparedness, fire suppression, search and rescue, and terrorism awareness.In the event of a disaster-emergency, all CERT members will be recognized as a trained civilian volunteer who can help assist municipal emergency service organizations without the team.For more information or to sign up for the course, call the EMA at 570-325-3097.
