Volunteers are needed for the inaugural Coal Crackin' Rock the Block weekend in Coaldale.

The block party event with food, music and vendors, will take place Sept. 8-10.The events are all located around Coaldale Complex and Fire Company, at West High and Sixth streets.A planning meeting is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the fire house.Volunteering is open to the public, including children and clubs needing service hours.Sign-ups will also be accepted Wednesday for the chili contest and corn hole tournament scheduled for Sept. 9.For more information, search Coal Crackin' Rock the Block on Facebook.
