Crews rescue man who fell from Weissport trestle

Emergency personnel rescued a man Friday night after he fell off a railroad trestle near the village of Weissport.

The incident began just after 8 p.m. when a woman reported she witnessed a man fall of the trestle 50 feet to the rocks below.

The trestle carries railroad tracks over the Lehigh river.

The Lehighton fire department responded bringing the victim to the surface with a stokes basket and ropes.

He was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics, then flown by Penn Star helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.
