A male driver escaped serious injury Wednesday night when the vehicle he was operating struck a box type truck along Route 209 in Schuylkill Township.

The crash occurred at 8:30 p.m. about a mile west of Tamaqua.According to witnesses the truck was traveling south when the sport utility vehicle traveling north crossed into its lane. The driver of the truck swerved to the left to avoid the collision but was struck at the right rear wheel. The truck came to rest in the south berm. The SUV came to rest facing south in the south bound lane.The driver of the SUV was evaluated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance. Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. The Tuscarora fire company responded to the scene.
