Palmerton Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred early this morning in which valuables were upturned at several businesses in the borough's downtown.
Tony Oriolo, owner of Prodigy Studios, at 306 Delaware Ave., posted a video on Facebook taken from a surveillance camera.Oriolo said park benches, signs and flower pots were upturned as a result of the incident."We seem to have taken the heaviest of the blow," Oriolo said in his post."Our park bench is enjoyed by so many people, and it's now destroyed in this senseless act."Oriolo said that when the perpetrator lifted the bench, the concrete ends cracked in two."I was upset," he said. "I've been getting a lot of replies from people who've seen the post, that they sit on the bench, and they love that bench."Oriolo noted that it cost him nearly $2,000 to custom-build the bench, not to mention his time.Contacted this morning, borough police Chief Randy Smith said police are aware of the incident, and an investigation is underway.Smith urged anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact the police department at 610-826-4055.All information will remain confidential, he said.
