A biker was seriously injured Sunday evening when he crashed during a high speed chase.

The incident began at Beltzville Lake when a park ranger spotted the biker.

Soon after Franklin township police became involved in the incident. A short time later Palmerton police took to the pursuit a king route 248. When the biker attempted to turn into the Route 873 bridge he took it too wide slamming into the side of a mini van.

The biker was treated at the scene and flown by Penn Star helicopter to St. Luke's hospital trauma center in Bethlehem. Palmerton police are investigating the incident.
